Southern University says their Human Jukebox band is no longer going to lead the way for the Mystic Krewe of Nyx during Mardi Gras.

The school's Director of Bands announced the decision on Monday in a letter to the Krewe saying they will not participate in an organization whose leader proclaimed all lives matter during a time of racial unrest.

Krewe of Nyx Captain Julie Lea posted All Lives Matter on social media during early protests on police brutality, prompting a mass exodus of Krewe members and boycotts.

Meanwhile, a former Nyx member is suing the Krewe and its captain for membership dues.

Nonetta Pierre filed a lawsuit accusing Lea and the Krewe of breaking a "contractual agreement" after Lea's controversial social media post and refusal to step down as leader.

Officials say Pierre entered the contract with the group on June 1st, paying $300 in membership dues, but when she tried to get a refund, she was denied.

The Krewe has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
