Jefferson Parish To Offer Online Option For Students

Jefferson Parish public school students who prefer not to attend class on campuses will have the option of an all-virtual school this year.

School officials introduced the Virtual Jefferson program yesterday aims to provide students and families with an all at-home learning option.

Under the program, students will remain a student at their district school and will be eligible to participate in all extra-curricular activities offered at their school.

According to officials, for students in grades K through 8, the program will offer instruction in English, math, science and social studies, while high school students will receive instruction in courses required for graduation.

Parents who are interested in having their children participate in Virtual Jefferson must fill out an application available on July 10th at the school district's website.
