Louisiana's number of reported COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began stood at 82,042 Tuesday after the Department of Health announced an additional 2,187 cases.

LDH noted that, due to the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out-of-state cases, the latest increase may not match the difference between the current amount and Monday's, which was 79,827.

Of the new cases, mostly collected within the last seven days, 99% were blamed on community spread and 36% involved those 29 years old and younger.

Hospitalizations rose by 54 to 1,362. Of those patients, 146 are on ventilators, up 4 from the previous day.

The death toll rose by 22 to 3,337.

More detailed information, including breakdowns by parish and LDH rejoins, is available on the department's online coronavirus dashboard.
