The St. Tammany Parish Public School System is delaying the start date of its school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials announced on Monday that school for K-12 will now have a staggered start beginning August 11 through August 14 to ensure safety protocols are in place.
Safe Start Days will see 1/4 of the number of students reporting to school each day in a schedule based on the first letter of their last name.
On August 17, all students will begin their regular school schedule either as fully in-person or a blended environment with instruction split between classrooms and distance-learning.
