Jefferson Parish Schools is welcoming a new superintendent.
On Wednesday, the Jefferson Parish School Board chose James Gray to succeed Cade Brumley as superintendent of the state's largest school district, edging out St. Tammany parish school administrator Corwin Robinson.
The elevation of Gray, who has been serving as Chief of Schools, signaled the board's intent to maintain the program begun by Brumley, who left in June to become state superintendent.
Several board members said they wanted to make a hire quickly, noting that the unique circumstances of trying to open schools amid coronavirus concerns.
