The Louisiana Department of Health reported an additional 2,284 reported cases of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the ongoing total of cases since the pandemic began to 86,411.
LDH noted the updated case numbers may not match the difference from the previous day due to the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out-of-state cases.
93% of the new cases came from community spread with 36% involved those aged 29 and under. Test samples for the latest round of cases were collected between July 6 and July 16.
Hospitalizations increased by 32 to 1,401 and those on ventilators went up by 13 to 162.
The death toll from the coronavirus increased by 24 to 3,375.
