The man who was convicted of killing ex-NFL player Joe McKnight in an apparent road rage incident in 2016 is being granted a new trial.
Attorney Dane Ciolino confirmed that the Louisiana 5th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the manslaughter conviction of Ronald Gasser yesterday.
The court removed the conviction based on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in April that a unanimous jury must convict defendants in serious crimes.
In 2018, a jury voted 10-2 to find Gasser guilty of killing McKnight after the two of them got into an altercation driving over the Crescent City Connection in New Orleans.
