LDH Reports 2,800 Additional COVID-19 Cases Wednesday

The Louisiana Department of Health reported over 2,700 additional cases of COVID-19 Wednesday afternoon, bringing the state's running total of reported coronavirus cases to 99,354.

State health officials said the collection dates for the majority of the latest cases fell between July 15 and July 22. 92% came from community spread and 32% involve those 29 years old and younger.

Hospitalizations increased by 54 to 1,581 with 188 on ventilators, up two from Tuesday.

Following a delay, LDH updated the number of deaths blamed on COVID-19 to 3,558, an increase of 60.

There are 61,456 presumed recovered from the coronavirus in Louisiana as of last Sunday.
