COVID-19 Hospitalizations Continue To Fall In Louisiana In Latest Update

The number of patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Louisiana continued to fall in the latest update from state health officials.

The Louisiana Department of Health reported 47 fewer patients Tuesday, bringing the total number of patients statewide being treated for the coronavirus to 1,335. Those on ventilators fell by one to 214.

There were 1,165 additional cases reported by LDH, bringing the running total to 133,125 after the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out-of-state cases.

The death count from COVID-19 increased by 26 to 4,195.

The state health department said most of Tuesday's newly reported cases were collected between August 4 and August 11. 84% were from community spread and 26% involved those 29 years old and younger.
