Louisiana Reports Just Over 600 Cases Of COVID-19 Monday

The Louisiana Department of Health reported an additional 622 cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing the running total since the pandemic began to 143,566, following the daily removal of newly identified duplicates and out of state cases.

Collection dates for nearly all of the cases were between August 17 and August 24. 71% were blamed on community spread and 31% involved those aged 29 and younger.

There was an inital delay in the posting of hospital-related data. By Monday afternoon, LDH reported 939 patients treated for the coronavirus, down 2 from Sunday. The number of patients on ventilators was unchanged at 152.

The death count from COVID-19 stood at 4,623 with the report of 18 additional deaths.
