LDH: Backlog Part Of Just Over 1,500 COVID-19 Cases Reported Wednesday

The Louisiana Department of Health reported 1,511 additional COVID-19 cases Wednesday.

That amount included a backlog of 690 cases dating from between August 6 and September 4. Collection dates for the rest of the cases fell between September 1 and September 8.

95% of the latest cases were blamed on community spread. 39% involved those under the age of 29 and 30% were those between the ages of 18 and 29.

The total number of reported COVID-19 cases in Louisiana since the pandemic began stood at 154,955 following the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases.

The death toll rose by 15 and is now 4,970.

Hospitalizations fell by 17 to 782. Those on ventilators fell by 8 to 123.
