Cantrell: New Orleans To Remain In Phase Two

The city of New Orleans will be sticking with its current reopening phase, for now.

On Thursday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced that the city is remaining in Phase Two to ensure the safety of children returning to school.

The current rules still restrict bars to take-out only service and limit the capacity of people in restaurants and gyms. Cantrell said she is waiting to loosen restrictions until after in-person learning begins.

The announcement comes after Gov. John Bel Edwards announced the state is moving into Phase Three of reopening as of today.
