A federal judge is ordering the state of Louisiana to reinstate emergency coronavirus voting measures used during this past summer's elections.

Judge Shelley Dick ruled yesterday that the state should continue those special voting standards for the upcoming presidential election on November 3.

In the ruling, the judge said people with medical conditions that make the virus more dangerous must be allowed to vote absentee by mail because of the pandemic.

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin had earlier presented a plan where only those who tested positive for COVID-19 would be eligible to apply for a mail-in ballot.
