A Louisiana native is considered the front-runner to be nominated to fill the current vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Political insiders said yesterday that Judge Amy Coney Barrett could be nominated at the end of this week by President Trump to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away over the weekend at age 87.

Judge Barrett grew up in Metairie and graduated from St. Mary's Dominican High School before attending Notre Dame Law School and since 2017 has served on the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

President Trump is expected to announce his nominee sometime on Saturday.
