The Louisiana Department of Health reported just seven COVID-19 deaths in Wednesday's update, bringing the state's total to 5,225.
LDH said the running tally of coronavirus cases was 162,645 following the announcement of 440 new cases and the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases.
State health officials also announced that there are 149,640 presumed recovered from COVID-19 as of September 21.
Hospitalizations rose by 21 to 592 while the number of patients on ventilators fell by two to 94.
