The lead engineer overseeing the demolition of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans says a planned demolition yesterday was successful.

Walter Zehner says the steel structure of the wing above Burgundy Street came down partially on Wednesday with the final section coming down on Thursday afternoon.

The debris is now sitting on the 8th Floor slab, and Zehner says crews will begin cutting down parts of the steel frame over the next few days.

The project is currently on schedule with plans to begin work on the Iberville Street side of the building next week.
