New Orleans Blood Center Facing Shortage As State Moves To Phase Three

The New Orleans Blood Center on Canal Street says they are facing a severe blood shortage.

Officials said yesterday that demand has increased because of restrictions on elective surgeries being lifted as part of the state's Phase Three re-opening.

Mobile bus blood drives are still not allowed, so the center relies on donations by appointment, which is notably more inconvenient for the public.

The organization is asking healthy individuals of all blood types who can make an appointment to come in to give as soon as possible.
