The Louisiana Department of Health blamed "technology issues" on listing just 63 new COVID-19 cases Monday.

"This morning LDH determined that the automated routines to receive and process laboratory results did not function as expected, and had to be restarted. Lab result collection had to be abbreviated to allow time for deduplication and data quality checks," the department explained. "Any remaining tests and cases that would have been received and reported today will be added to tomorrow’s update."

The total number of reported coronavirus cases in Louisiana since the pandemic began stood at 172,119 to start the week.

LDH also reported 14 additional deaths to bring that total to 5,476.

Hospitalizations also increased by 14 to 577 with 70 patients on ventilators, down one from Sunday.
