The annual New Orleans Running of the Santas is being postponed until next year due to COVID-19.

The event's organizers confirmed yesterday that the annual fun run originally scheduled for December 12 will now take place on December 11, 2021.

Officials say because of the pandemic, it is not safe to hold an event of this size without running the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

First held in 2010, the event attracts thousands of people who dress in holiday and seasonal outfits depicting Santa and Mrs. Claus, Jack Frost, Ebenezer Scrooge, Old Man Winter, and others in the hopes of winning prizes.
