Doctors say they have released former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards from the hospital after a weekend stay for breathing problems.
Officials said yesterday that the 93-year-old Edwards experienced difficulty breathing on Friday and was admitted to the hospital as a precaution.
Edwards tested negative for COVID-19 and pneumonia but was diagnosed with the rhinovirus, also known as the common cold.
Edwards served as governor for four terms between 1972 and 1996 and later served eight years in prison after being convicted of racketeering.
