Officials at the Fair Grounds Race Course say they will open the 2020-2021 season next week without spectators.

Course President Doug Shipley released a statement yesterday saying they are happy to open their 149th racing season on Thanksgiving Day but cannot allow the general public to attend at this time due to the pandemic.

Shipley added that the course would make another announcement in December about when they expect to have the track open to the public again.

Shipley also said the Fair Grounds' slots and twelve off-track betting facilities will maintain their normal hours of operation and safety guidelines.
