Congressman Cedric Richmond says he will play an active role in choosing a successor for his seat representing Louisiana's Second District.
Richmond announced yesterday he was resigning from Congress to become the next Director of the White House's Office of Public Engagement and a senior advisor to President-Elect Joe Biden.
Richmond has represented the Second District since 2010 and was recently re-elected in a landslide victory earlier this month.
Richmond will help choose a successor to hold the seat until a permanent replacement is voted in during a special election next March.
