Orleans Parish Public Schools See Spike In Coronavirus Cases

The local school district is shutting down after seeing a spike in coronavirus cases.

Officials say thousands of students and staff members at public schools in the metro area have been ordered to quarantine due to an uptick in reported COVID-19 cases.

According to reports, 92 students and school staff tested positive for the virus last week. This week, more than 1,200 students and staff are being asked to quarantine.

Orleans Parish Officials have not shared on how many or which schools had seen active cases.
