A New Orleans Police Officer is being hailed as a hero after his quick thinking saved the life of a seven-year-old shooting victim in St. Roch.
NOPD officials said yesterday that Officer Daniel McCreary was on the scene of a shooting off North Prieur Street and applied a chest seal to an injured seven-year-old girl when he realized her lung was collapsing.
McCreary continued with the first-aid until EMS arrived to transport the child to the hospital.
The girl and a second 14-year-old male victim are expected to recover and an investigation into the shooting in ongoing.
