The Jefferson Parish Council says they want to have Carnival parades next year but must find a way to hold them safely.
Councilmembers met last night to discuss an ordinance by member Jennifer Van Vrancken to move Mardi Gras to Memorial Day, but tabled it to devote more time to reviewing the proposal before voting.
Officials are also looking at holding the Metairie Road St. Patrick's Parade alongside celebrations on the July 4th weekend.
Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng says she wants parades to happen but not if they conflict with vaccine distributions.
