Infectious disease experts are warning of a new highly contagious strain of COVID-19 that may be near Louisiana.
Tulane School of Medicine Professor Bob Garry said over the weekend that the new mutation of the virus had been found in Houston.
The more contagious variant of the COVID-19 virus was first discovered in the United Kingdom and South Africa before spreading to Colorado in the United States.
Researchers say the new virus is around 50% more contagious compared to the first variant.
