Watch Saints Head Coach Sean Payton Get Slimed After Playoff Win

Nickelodeon broadcast its first NFL game on Sunday, showcasing the NFC wildcard game between the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears as part of the league's broadcasting partnership with the network. In typical Nickelodeon fashion, someone had to get slimed.

Enter: Saints Head Coach Sean Payton.

Following the Saints' win, Payton had a bucket of the green goo dumped over his head in what many people hope becomes a new tradition.

Despite the slow start, the Saints ultimately defeated the Bears 21-9 to win the first round of the playoffs. They face off against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend. Though the offense didn't really take off until the second half, Payton spoke of his team's "outstanding" defense during the wildcard game.

"It was a great team win," he said. "I thought we got a lot of things clicking in the second half ... We're fortunate to win a game but we feel we can do a lot of things better."

Watch Coach Payton have fun and celebrate the team's win below.

The new partnership between the NFL and Nickelodeon hopes to reach a younger audience, and if Sunday's matchup was any indication, people loved it. Though it was the only Nickelodeon broadcast planned for now, the love for the fun play graphics, virtual slime cannons celebrating touchdowns, and commentary provided by All That cast members may bring some games back to the network in the future.
