State officials are reporting a significant amount of COVID-19 vaccine shipments are being delayed by bad weather.

On Wednesday, state health official Dr. Joseph Kanter said anyone with an appointment to receive the vaccine should contact their provider to see if they need to reschedule.

Dr. Kanter said pushing back second doses of the vaccines is ok, but those who receive Pfizer shots shouldn't wait more than 21 days, and Moderna recipients should wait no longer than 28 days.

An estimated 5% of Louisiana's population has been vaccinated.
