NOPD Reassigns Officer Who Killed Puppy During Domestic Disturbance Call

The NOPD says they have reassigned an officer who shot and killed a four-month-old dog named Apollo over the weekend.

Officials confirmed yesterday that the officer was reassigned as part of an internal review of the incident last Saturday night on Felicity Avenue.

According to reports, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call and shot the animal when they opened the gate to the residence.

The Humane Society of Louisiana released a statement calling for better police training for dealing with dogs in a non-lethal way.
