A former lunch lady in Louisiana is facing several serious charges for allegedly hosting "'sleepovers" with teenage students.
According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Dawn Marie Baye reportedly hosted overnight parties where the male students, between the ages of 13 and 16, would drink alcohol and watch pornographic movies, Yahoo News reports. One parent claims that there were also sexual encounters during the parties.
Authorities were alerted to the parties on April 21 after a complaint from a concerned parent about teens going to an adult woman's house on several occasions. The complaint led to a weeks-long investigation, culminating in the revelation that some of the students stayed overnight at Baye's home and her arrest.
Baye worked in the lunchroom of Lacache Middle School, officials with the Terrebonne Parish School District confirmed, and she allegedly met some of the teens who attended the parties at the school. According to the school district, Baye has been fired from her job.
"She was a cafeteria worker and 'was' is the appropriate term because she's no longer employed," Superintendent Philip Martin told Houma Today. "When people make bad decisions there are usually bad consequences that go along with them."
The former lunch lady was arrested on Friday (April 30) and charged with eight counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and ten counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Records indicated that she was booked into jail on a $50,000 bond and later released.
