Officials at Jefferson Parish Public Schools are preparing to launch a new virtual-only high school for the 2021-2022 academic year.

JPPS spokesperson Vicki Bristol said yesterday that the District wants to take advantage of new technology to create a school for self-motivated students who have good self-discipline and thrive in an independent environment.

The school will have its own dedicated set of teachers but will not include any extracurriculars or athletics.

Any current student who will be in grades 9-12 next year can apply to attend the new Jefferson Virtual High School.
