New Orleans Pelicans executive David Griffin is being fined by the NBA for remarks he made about league officiating.
On Sunday, the NBA announced it was fining Griffin $50,000 for criticizing referees after Pelicans forward Zion Williamson suffered a broken finger in a game last week.
Griffin said the injury was avoidable if officials would have properly called fouls against those who defended Williamson, describing the year as open-season on the star forward.
Williamson is expected to miss an indefinite amount of time as the Pelicans try to make the playoffs with only four games left.
