A mask mandate will remain in effect at LSU, university officials announced Thursday.
Masks will still be required on campus while indoors, with social distancing of six feet while outdoors.
"We feel that continuing the mask mandate at this time is the safest option for our employees and students while we continue to monitor the state’s progress regarding COVID-19," read a statement signed by LSU interim President Tom Galligan and LSU executive vice president Stacia Haynie. "It’s great news that cases of the virus, hospitalizations, and deaths are all down considerably, and we want to do our part to keep that trend moving in the right direction so we can have an in-person fall semester."
With students and faculty urged to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, doses of the Pfizer vaccine are being offered in the south endzone of Tiger Stadium between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. through May 29.
