The man who shot and killed former Saints player Will Smith will have his latest day in court this fall.
Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Camille Buras has set October 18 as the date for Cardell Hayes' retrial in the killing of Smith in 2016. Hayes was initially convicted of the murder in December 2016, but the ruling was overturned in January.
Hayes has been free on bail awaiting his retrial since March. His pre-trial is set for September 21.
