The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office says they are looking into the death of an inmate on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the man was found unresponsive in his cell during roll call and was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The inmate was being held at the jail on a murder warrant out of Mississippi and was waiting to be extradited on a $1 million bond.

Officials say early diagnosis is pointing to cardiac arrest as the cause of death, and there were no signs of injury or self-harm.
