The city of New Orleans issued an indoor mask advisory Wednesday as COVID-19 cases rose again in Louisiana, fueled by the delta variant.

Under the advisory, it's recommend that anyone, including those fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, wear a mask indoors when around those not within their immediate household.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said the advisory puts the responsibility on the individual to mask up, adding it is not a mandate.

Louisiana reported 5,388 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, the third highest daily count since the beginning of the pandemic.
