The search at Jean Lafitte National Park for four-year-old Ellis Baudean, who went missing one week ago, is being called off.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said yesterday that crews had exhausted their search for Baudean, but the investigation will continue.
Lopinto said the search included constructing a temporary dam to drain part of the canal where the boy was last seen but was hindered when the dam collapsed.
Officials did say before the dam failed, they were able to look in alligator dens and other hidden areas but found no signs of Baudean.
