The Louisiana Department of Health says Black Louisiana residents are significantly lagging behind other races when it comes to COVID-19 vaccinations.
According to data released yesterday by the LDH, around 29% of Blacks in the state are vaccinated compared to over 58% of whites.
Dr. Thomas LaVeist said the COVID-19 Task Force is working to educate minorities on the safety of the vaccines but still meets resistance as people have legitimate questions.
Dr. LaVeist said most questions deal with trust issues on how quickly the vaccines were developed.
