The annual Red Dress Run in New Orleans is being canceled again this year due to COVID-19.

The race's board voted on Monday to cancel the event because of the new surge in cases related to the Delta variant of COVID-19.

The Red Dress Run is traditionally held on the second Saturday in August and raises money for local charities.

The surge in cases is also being blamed for the cancellation of the 2021 Gretna Heritage Festival in October.

Officials released a statement saying they hope to be able to host the festival again in October 2022.
