LSU is tracking the spread of COVID-19 by looking at wastewater from on-campus housing.
Officials said yesterday that the wastewater testing successfully isolated outbreaks to keep them from getting worse last year.
The testing works by collecting weekly samples to find how many copies of the virus are in the water to get a rough estimate of how many people in a residence are infected.
LSU reported on Monday that 87 students and 29 employees had tested positive for COVID-19.
