The New Orleans Saints will now offer season ticket holders who do want to follow requirements to have a COVID-19 vaccine or proof of a negative test to enter the Caesars Superdome an opportunity to receive a refund.
Previously, it recommended those fans either give away or sell those tickets to someone else. However, the team says they received a number of calls from people looking to buy any season tickets returned.
"Our preference is to have these loyal fans in the seats rather than see these additional tickets be made available to visiting fans via the secondary market," the Saints said in a statement released Thursday. "Those seeking a refund should reach out to their ticket representative by the deadline of Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. CT. At their request, we will cancel their accounts and provide a refund. Those tickets will then be immediately offered for purchase to our wait list."
Saints representatives said they had received less than 120 requests for ticket refunds as of Thursday morning.
The team remains hopeful the COVID-19 requirements in place from the City of New Orleans will be temporary.
