The Louisiana Department of Health reported a record high 139 deaths due to COVID-19 Tuesday.
The previous high of daily reported deaths was last April with 129.
The death toll from the coronavirus since the pandemic began is at 12,116.
LDH also reported that hospitalizations rose slightly to 2,856 statewide. The number of patients on ventilators held steady at 480.
3,814 new COVID-19 cases were reported.
