Roofing contractors in New Orleans are telling homeowners with storm-damaged roofs that repairs are going to be delayed and expensive.

When Hurricane Ida tore through the area just over a week ago, contractors were already dealing with severe shortages of both labor and supplies.

The hurricane's widespread damage has made both problems worse.

Lake Charles, about 200 miles west of New Orleans, was torn up by Hurricane Laura a year ago and still hasn't finished recovering from the storm damage.
