The AAA Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Louisiana is $2.89 a gallon for regular unleaded, five cents more than a week ago and up 93 cents compared to this time last year.
The national average is $3.18.
As demand increases and supplies tighten, prices have fluctuated in some states, helping to stabilize this week's national average.
The average price at the pump in Baton Rouge is $2.87. In the New Orleans area, it's $2.94.
