Federal regulators are assessing air quality at five industrial sites in southeast Louisiana.

The EPA has placed monitors at the Shell refinery in Norco, at the Marathon refinery in Garyville, at a state site in the Irish Channel in New Orleans, at the Denka Performance Elastomer plant in Reserve, and at Port Fourchon.

Hurricane Ida caused a widespread power outage, knocking out 15 of the state's air monitors.

State environmental regulators have also placed mobile monitors at several petrochemical plants in St. Bernard Parish.
