St. Tammany Parish officials are announcing that an alligator that apparently killed a Slidell man has been hunted down and destroyed.
On August 30, the day after Ida made landfall, 71-year-old Timothy Satterlee's wife reported that he had been attacked and dragged away by the gator.
This Monday, two weeks after Satterlee disappeared, a couple of state-licensed nuisance hunters trapped and killed a 12-foot-long, 500-pound alligator.
They cut the reptile open and found what looked like human remains in its stomach.
