The Jefferson Parish school board is working with a local nonprofit to raise funds to replace school uniforms lost in the storm.
President Kevin Buckel of Adopt-A-Family says if somebody sponsors a child for $50, the child will get two complete uniforms, and the sponsor will get a thank-you note from the child along with a receipt.
Skobel's School Uniforms offered to donate $20,000 and match another $20,000.
If the full sum is raised and matched, more than 800 kids will receive the uniforms they need.
