FEMA trailers may arrive in hurricane-damaged areas of Louisiana before the end of this week.

On Monday, Governor John Bel Edwards announced a program approved and paid for by FEMA, that would allow the state to send the trailers into hard-hit parishes.

The state program doesn't replace existing FEMA temporary housing programs, such as rental assistance and hotels.

The new program puts folks into individual units as opposed to group shelters.

Applicants must already be registered with FEMA, and apply for a trailer through the state at idashelteringla.com.
