The Louisiana Department of Health is proposing that coronavirus vaccines be added to the list of shots required for students age 16 and up.

Gov. John Bel Edwards is backing the idea, as soon as the vaccines are fully licensed by the FDA.

So far, the Pfizer vaccine still doesn't have full FDA approval for kids age five to eleven.

The state's Health and Welfare Committee will consider the proposal and decide whether or not to enact it. The date for that meeting hasn't been scheduled.
