Airport officials say a construction project on taxiway G has the instrument landing system offline at Louis Armstrong International Airport.
Heavy fog and the out-of-service ILS led to the delay and cancellation of dozens of flights on Wednesday.
The ILS is expected to be offline until early next year, when the taxiway work is completed.
Fog will be a continuing problem as long as the ILS is out of commission.
As tourism returns to New Orleans, some travelers may rethink their flight plans as a result.
